Who Moved My Cheese? by Dr. Spencer Johnson

|
What it's all about? [Goodreads' description]
Change can be a blessing or a curse, depending on your perspective. The message of Who Moved My Cheese? is that all can come to see it as a blessing, if they understand the nature of cheese and the role it plays in their lives. Who Moved My Cheese? is a parable that takes place in a maze. Four beings live in that maze: Sniff and Scurry are mice-nonanalytical and nonjudgmental, they just want cheese and are willing to do whatever it takes to get it. Hem and Haw are "littlepeople," mouse-size humans who have an entirely different relationship with cheese. It's not just sustenance to them; it's their self-image. Their lives and belief systems are built around the cheese they've found. Most of us reading the story will see the cheese as something related to our livelihoods-our jobs, our career paths, the industries we work in--although it can stand for anything, from health to relationships. The point of the story is that we have to be alert to changes in the cheese, and be prepared to go running off in search of new sources of cheese when the cheese we have runs out.

What I Learned?
With just 98 pages, Who Moved My Cheese? really teach me a lot of things and it's really worth my time reading it. In this book, Dr. Spencer motivates the readers with just a simple story that can even make you lough but the true message can be easily absorbed. This book makes me aware that, even though you are successful and achieve what you want in your life, it doesn't mean that it will be long lasting. Because lots of thing may happen. In a blink maybe your career or whatever you have will shatter into pieces. Do not feel too comfortable because we don't know what's waiting us in future. In this book, Hem is the character which is too comfortable with what he has. But when what he has is all running out [the changes] he sit idle and hoping that everything will turn out all right again. He afraid with the changes, and even worst he afraid to change himself. Haw in the other hand, even though he is at first also acts like Hem but, he realizes that nothing will change if you just sit idle. So, he goes out to journey into the maze to find the opportunities. And of course in the maze of life, most of the times we will find the dead end but it's worth it. You gain experiences along the way and you'll try harder. So, if you fail in your life, never give up because there's a lot more opportunities out there. Just make a move. And who am I in this story? I think I'm still a Hem but trying to be a Haw. How bout' ya?
