Martian & Venusian

|
Hi, guys!! What a gloomy Thursday here. But, I'm really in a good mood right now 'cause I'm going'out for lunch with my girlfriend. Well, I'm reading Men Are from Mars,Women Are from Venus by John Gray right now. My girlfriend introduced me to this awesome book a year back but I couldn't finish it because I lost it. So, started from the moment I lost this book, we, my girlfriend and I, just simply called it "The Lost Book" haha! But, a few months before I bought the same book again and gave it to my girlfriend. And the funny thing is, we still calling it as "The Lost Book" instead of the real title. Last night she gave it to me cause I want to reread the book and want to finish it. Though it is a non-fiction book, it is a page-turner and I really enjoy reading it. By, reading this book, I really hope that I can improve our relationship, have better communication, and to understand each other very well. Why? Because I love my girlfriend so very, very much.

........

Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus

Synopsis [from cover]: Once upon a time Martians and Venusians met, fell in love, and had happy relationship together because they respected and accepted their differences. Then they came to Earth and amnesia set in: the forgot they were from different planets.

Using this metaphor to illustrate the commonly occurring conflicts between men and women, Dr. John Gray explains how these differences in communication can come between and prohibit mutually fulfilling loving relationships. based on years of successful  counseling of couples and individuals, he gives advice on how to counteract these differences in communication styles, emotional needs and modes of behaviour to promote greater understanding between partners.

Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus has helped millions of men and women to understand each other better. it is a valuable tool for developing deeper and more satisfying relationships.

I can assure you. That's all for now. Oh, yes! I'm goin' home for a long semester break. You'll rarely see my post here from now on. Well, have a nice day!! Ciao........

Kindle vs Nook

|
What I'm going to share with you today is two cool gadgets which are popular among bookaholics all around the globe. They are Kindle by Amazon and Nook by Barnes and Nobel. These two products are the wireless reading devices with a lot of cool features. These gadgets are fantastic because you can buy the books even faster and cheaper compared to the printed version and they have a paper-like screen which is very vision friendly. It's different compared to the computer screen because the screen works using ink, just like books and newspapers, but displays the ink particles electronically. So, we can read for hours without having any problems. Cool isn't it?

 Kindle [left] and Nook [right]

If I have to choose between these two products, I would choose Nook because the design is more elegance with the color screen compared to black and white screen of Kindle. There are several other features of Nook which Kindle doesn't have. [ click here ] Well for a better information regarding Kindle and Nook, you can go straight away to the Amazon and Barnes and Noble respectively. These gadgets are fantastic! Just like you can bring your whole library wherever you go. Haha! But, I think I love reading printed books more but I can say it for exact because I dont own any Kindle or Nook yet. Haha! Well that's all for now. Ciao...

Finish That Series Challenge! 2010

|
Hi, guys! I finished my final exam already. Now, I can go back to my reading, not lecture notes or any handouts given by lecturers, but my storybooks. I've several books to be read and I think a few of 'em are suitable for the new challenge that I'm signing in right now. It's "Finish That Series Challenge! 2010" hosted by Royal Reviews.

There are four levels of this challenge and I'm in the "Curious" level. For this level, I have to two finish 2 series in 2010 and I already have 'em in my mind. The series that I'll complete for this challenge are:

Inkworld Trilogy by Cornelia Funke
  • Book 1: Inkheart
  • Book 2: Inkspell
  • Book 3: Inkdead
Inheritance Cycle Series by Christopher  Paulini
  • Book 1: Eragon
  • Book 2: Eldest
  • Book 3: Brisingr
I did hear good things bout both of these series. Book bloggers keep on writing great reviews bout 'em. So, I think I'll give 'em a try. What say you? Any opinion just leave it here OK. Well, I really hope that I can complete this "Curious Level" by the end of 2010. Those who are interested to join me in this challenge, feel free to sign in [ Click Here ]. Ok, thats all. have a great day guys!!! Ciao...

4th On My Wishlist

|
Howdy readers! Two more novels are added to my wish-list and it's growing!! Haha! They are House Rules by Jodi Picoult and  Dear John by Nicholas Sparks.

House Rules by Jodi Picoult

HOUSE RULES is about Jacob Hunt, a teenage boy with Asperger’s Syndrome. He’s hopeless at reading social cues or expressing himself well to others, and like many kids with AS, Jacob has a special focus on one subject – in his case, forensic analysis. He’s always showing up at crime scenes, thanks to the police scanner he keeps in his room, and telling the cops what they need to do…and he’s usually right. But then one day his tutor is found dead, and the police come to question him. All of the hallmark behaviors of Asperger’s – not looking someone in the eye, stimulatory tics and twitches, inappropriate affect – can look a heck of a lot like guilt to law enforcement personnel and suddenly, Jacob finds himself accused of murder.
House Rules looks at what it means to be different in our society, how autism affects a family, and how our legal system works well for people who communicate a certain way – but lousy for those who don’t. [Goodreads.com]

I want to read House Rules because:
  • The storyline is interesting and the cover is quite nice.
  • I want to learn more 'bout the Asperger's Syndrom.Well it's not like I can't get any info from net or books, but I think learning in fun way like this suit me better.
  • I'm a forensic science stud, so the element of forensic analysis and solving crime really intrigue me.
........
Dear John by Nicholas Sparks
An angry rebel, John dropped out of school and enlisted in the Army, not knowing what else to do with his life--until he meets the girl of his dreams, Savannah. Their mutual attraction quickly grows into the kind of love that leaves Savannah waiting for John to finish his tour of duty, and John wanting to settle down with the woman who captured his heart. But 9/11 changes everything. John feels it is his duty to re-enlist. And sadly, the long separation finds Savannah falling in love with someone else. "Dear John," the letter read...and with those two words, a heart was broken and two lives were changed forever. Returning home, John must come to grips with the fact that Savannah, now married, is still his true love and face the hardest decision of his life.  [Goodreads.com]

I want to read Dear John because:
  • I got inspired by the review posted by Darlyn of Darlyn N Book here. It was a great review Darlyn!!
  • Because I want to have a try Sparks work, I thought he's a very awesome writer.
  • Because I'm going crazy with the movie adapted from this book, starring Amanda Seyfried and Channing Tatum. They are great..(actually I haven't watch the movie yet. Just view the trailer...but I will)
OK, till next time. Ciao.....
